At Westgate we manufacture a complete line of hardware components for residential doors, providing us with the ability to test and improve our products. Customer feedback can be used in the design of new products as we continually strive to provide the best hardware and options available in the garage door industry. Over the years Westgate has streamlined and improved all areas of manufacturing, packaging and distribution. We can provide you with a single door and hardware package, or we can provide bulk hardware kits for dealers and distributors to maintain stock levels while taking advantage of bulk savings. We offer a wide variety of options some of which include various track systems, custom hardware kits, heavy gauge hinges and precision rollers.
Standard Hardware
Our standard residential door package comes with hardware that is designed for strength, safety and ease of assembly. Nylon rollers provide smooth, quiet operation through a 12”radius track that features hemmed edges (Dura-Hem) for safety. Torsion springs are galvanized and calculated to 10,000 cycles, providing years of reliable service. Galvanized aircraft cables encompass a 7-to-1 safety factor to help protect your family and your vehicle from harm.
Custom Options
Our standard hardware kit can be customized in many different ways with heavy duty components and optional accessories.
A few of these options are listed below:
- 10 ball rollers and precision sealed rollers
- Heavy gauge hinges
- Thick wall shafts
- High cycle springs
- Extra reinforcement struts
- Stainless steel cables
- Vinyl perimeter weather seal
- Powder coated track and hardware
- Interior and Exterior Locks
- Decorative Exterior Hardware
Hardware Kits and Accuracy
A residential hardware kit contains all the small parts needed for a garage door installation. Various brackets, cable drums, hinges and fasteners just to name a few. It could prove detrimental to any installation to be missing even a single key component, especially in remote locations. That is why every hardware kit and fastener bag is weighed for accuracy and all parts are monitored for quality. Commercial hardware kits are built from a custom bill of materials and double checked to ensure a comprehensive package.
Low Headroom Hardware
We know that every job comes with different challenges and that many garage doors require special hardware. One of the most common obstacles in residential installations is a lack of headroom, meaning there is not enough header above the opening for the door to travel up through the curve and also for the spring assembly to mount above the tracks. Westgate offers an efficient Low Headroom double track system in which the top section of the door rides in a separate track. This track allows the section to pull straight back rather than travel up and over, thus the whole track and spring assembly can be mounted lower effectively reducing the headroom required for installation.
The chart below shows hardware clearance based on standard 4”cable drums.
Hardware clearance requirements are minimums, installations may vary.

 DURA-HEM™ track with EDGE-SAFE™ technology
We are now using DURA-HEM™ track on all of our 2”track systems. DURA-HEM™ track with EDGE-SAFE™ technology is engineered to be stronger and stiffer. Product testing proves that it outperforms conventional track in every way. It is safer for installers to handle and safer for homeowners and their families. DURA-HEM™ track is designed for smoother unobstructed roller travel and it is stronger, to resist damage caused by wear and abuse.
Galvanized Torsion Springs offer several key benefits over traditional oil tempered springs
- A Clean, Unified, Finished look. Galvanized torsion springs eliminate the gaudy black look of oil tempered springs and are more aesthetically pleasing as they match the rest of the garage door hardware.
- Reduced Installation and Handling Problems. Installers don’t have to deal with the dirty black mess caused by oil tempered springs. No filthy black smears on door sections, reduced clean up time and a tidier work truck.
- Rust and Corrosion Prevention. Spring wire is galvanized before it is wound, providing 100% coverage and offering better rust protection. Oil tempered springs sometimes start to rust even before they get installed, causing qualms with many homeowners over product quality.
- Durable and Resilient. Galvanized torsion springs have shown to be tougher and more fracture resistant than oil tempered springs reducing possible damage during shipping and handling while further extending the life of the spring.
Powder Coating
Many home owners are looking for new ways to improve the appearance of the interior of the garage but are not aware of the option to powder coat the door hardware. Powder coating not only beautifies but increases resistance to wear and corrosion. With a wide array of colors available, you can color match your hardware to work with your color scheme or to just blend in with the surroundings. Powder coating can significantly increase the aesthetic appeal of the complete door and the garage.
